The Portland, Maine based tango quartet Tango Mucha Labia was formed in 2006. Until 2012, Tango Mucha Labia delighted the Portland Tango scene with creative, fun, and intense energy. The quartet played everything from traditional to nuevo tunes with voice, violin, bass, guitar and accordion, in Maine and beyond. A regular act at the former North Star Music Café, Tango Mucha Labia then moved to Havana South on Wharf Street. Favorite outdoor venues included Fridays in Congress Square, the Gazebo on the bay on summer evenings and jumping out of the back of MENSK's roaming U-Haul shows on a FirstFriday Artwalk. TML also played at the D.C. Tango Marathon, "The Battle of the Tango Bands" in Boston, on "Radio Centre Ville" and at "Le Consulat" in Montréal, at the annual Downeast Country Dance Festival, at milongas throughout New England and at other private parties.
